Do you notice when your inner voice is using unkind words? Sometimes we don’t hear it. Why is that?

A good listener has a lot of characteristics, but they’re hard to keep track of when you’re in pain, anxious, or fearful about something in front of you. It keeps us from staying present, in the here and now, for ourselves.

We often think of becoming a good listener for others, but if you have never turned that superpower inward, here’s your invitation for the weekend to do just that.

A good listener:

- Has a hopeful self image
- Listens intently to understand, not respond
- Expresses themselves with clarity and speaks slowly
- Speaks honestly &with empathy
- Focuses on the here & now
- Cares about the people before them
- Handles strong emotion with patience and intention

So. Where do you fall in that list? Are there areas where you know you fall short on your own behalf?
